---> Prints of this drawing now available <---
After many requests from others I finally got permission from the person who made the original photograph. Thanks ~no-need-for-a-name!!
~~~~~~~~~~
I am finally able to post this commission.
A drawing I made for my oldest brother:
.: :.
Last year he graduated at uni and yesterday was his 26th birthday. As a gift I drew a guitar. The same as he has, only this one is right handed and he's a lefty. (;
A very gifted musician he is ever since age of 10.
I never really told him but... I'm so proud of him.
Glad to have an awesome bro like you.
This beauty is called an Les Paul guitar and is based upon a great picture which can be found here ---> Guitar by ~no-need-for-a-name.
...Honestly, this drawing is more personal than you might think in the first place. No-one actually knows that my heart truly lies at music. Drawing has always been the second...
Before I went ambitious in what I do these days, I aspired to become something totally different: an all-round musician.
From age 6 'till 16 I studied the arts of music, from classical guitar to drums. In no time I picked up an instrument and played along with every song I heard.
But as my health became weak and the energy to play music slipped away, I had no other option but to let go of my dream to become a great musician in 2004 -no matter how hard it was for me- and started to focus on something else: visual arts.
Also known as: drawing.
Luckily I found the energy to play music again. Since a few weeks I'm playing the bassguitar and things are going as good (or even better) as they were before. I'm glad!
About the drawing
The bodystructure of this guitar has been the most difficult thing I've ever drawn so far. I wasn't used in drawing materials like that. It was a great practice.
Something I don't wish to do again lol.
Stuff I used:
4H, 2H, H, HB, B and 2B o.5mm mechanical pencils for basically everything
several tissues for blending
kneaded and pencil erasers
reference image
Hahnemühle sketchbook paper, the best I've used so far!
Time spent: At least 30 hours
