Find more of my pencil work on:

Self portrait. Renaissance style.

Not because I like myself so much (in fact, I really don't like taking / sharing photos of myself).
No. It's because all the artists from back in the day used to make self portraits. I really admire their devotion for art! :eager:

Inspired by Study for the Head of a Girl by Leonardo da Vinci.

About my drawing:
:bulletblack: No erasing.
:bulletblack: One 0.3mm HB pencil
:bulletblack: Single pencillines only.
:bulletblack: Same technique as what they used 500 years ago!

I am not sure if it is finished or not. I want to keep the old Renaissance feeling of the drawing.
Until I have found a silverpoint to work with, I will keep using digital vintage layers to make my drawings look old.

Anyway, I used my own photo that I took a few weeks ago for fellow artists.

And now... I'm going back to work with one of my 1906409832509 unfinished drawings. Yay!

Cheers!

You are lovely. I would love to draw like you do, it's absolutely stunning! The patience it must take to use such precision is more than I could probably bear. LOVE.Here's a kiss for you, my love!

Very nice! I don't mean to be intrusive, but I think you'll find that doing at least one self portrait a year will be very valuable. When you have twenty or so to look at, you'll be able to remember each place you were. Thanks for sharing with us all.

It's a very clever idea, but it would become an obligation, if you know what I mean :)
Besides, I don't feel very comfortable drawing myself again anyway ^^;

Humph. Do it anyway. If you don't, you'll wish you had. The things that are uncomfortable make you grow. Besides, you'll never be in need of a model if you use yourself.

I am so impressed by this. You really did capture the style of Renaissance self portraiture. The fact that you didn't erase anything either makes it all the more wonderful. I'm horrible at drawing at all, but drawing myself is even more difficult in my opinion because the way we see ourselves differs from our physical appearance sometimes, but I think you did a fabulous job.
