For the sweet `scarletwave She gave me the opportunity to experience with my very first pet portrait. <3
ALSO. This is another full shot of one of the previews I gave you guys and gals about a month ago:
Just one more to go... what could it be!
Jerry Lee is a beautiful German Shepherd who belongs to `scarletwave. I was scared to get started with this drawing, but it sure wasn't Jerry Lee's (or Jen's!) fault. The more I worked on this drawing, the more I started to love that dog.
I had never drawn a full coloured detailed pencil drawing before. Neither had I worked on a serious pet drawing since drawing fur and hair in general always annoys the hell outta me. It's so hard to get it right. But with this one... I don't know; it seemed like everything worked out fine and easy and I enjoyed every second of it. Such an adorable dog. I'm so pleased with the final result (rarely happens).
Stuff I used: - First outlined with an H 0.5mm mechanical pencil; - Colouring done with Derwent Coloursoft pencils; - A white gel pen for the shimmering on the eyes and a few strands of hair of his muzzle, and his nose; - Cotton pads for blending the background; - Black 0.25mm marker for lines in the eyes and signature; - kneaded eraser for a few highlights; - A4 sized Hahnemühle Nostalgie sketchbook paper.
Time spent: approx 35 hours
---:~: Commissions :~:----- Aside from the usual greyscale portraits, I am also accepting coloured pencil drawings and pet portraits from now on.
