A dark-ish drawing of Matt Bellamy from Muse (obviously). I'm HEAVILY addicted to Muse in case you haven't noticed yet I feel like repeating myself, but it is true.
Spent over 75 hours on this drawing, which isn't bigger than 20x15 cm (A5 size, twice as small as most of my drawings / standard printing paper).
This scan is larger than the original.
I have struggled during almost the ENTIRE PROCESS. For those who have drawn Matt Bellamy before, know how hard it is to portray this guy. I think it has to do with strong facial features which show little and obvious contours. So don't blame yourself if you can't manage to draw him for the 1st, 2nd or, in my case, 200th time.
Got most of the skintexture done, but in the end I blended most of it so you get that softer/lens blurred effect.
Background shows the cover of my favourite Muse album, Origin of Symmetry, while the title Darkshines is my favourite song of theirs.
Stuff used: - 0.3mm (2H, H, HB, B) mechanical pencils - 0.5mm (4H, 2H, H, HB, B, 2B, 3B) mechanical pencils - 3B & 6B regular pencils for the (near) black parts. - blending done with: tissues, cotton pads. tortillions and Q-tips. - Colouring done with Photoshop CS5. - 2 references used
