A very, VERY early work in progress to show you the different stages of a drawing and how it's coming together

This portrait of Matt Smith (a.k.a. the Eleventh Doctor) on A3 size is commissioned by ~trinityknot

who also requested to post WIP scans of the drawing on deviantART.

I am not done with shading his face yet, but will continue after I finished drawing the hair. That way I can judge how much more (or less) contrast and shading his facial features need.

It's a Pentel Graphgear mechanical pencil

they are great to use!

Thanks... I have a lot of mechanical pencils but none for .5 lead. Seems these days everything is plastic. :S
