Here's my new baby in the flesh. Or... metal, plastic materialish...

Say hi to Dave! Isn't he beauuutiful? :flirty:
Girlie shoes not included. They were mine already. C:

I'm hitting on Dave. :eyes:

I first wanted to call him Nicko (drummer from Iron Maiden, plus "Nic & Nicko" makes a perfect duo xD ) but I kept calling him Dave (probably after Dave Grohl) when I was putting him together.

--------

Ten years ago I bought my first drumset, a blue acoustic Pearl called "Larsie". Until recently I never realized that I've been a drummer for almost 10 years. November will be my 10th anniversary.
(That's right people. I went music crazy before I went art crazy!)

Anyhoo, yesterday I bought this beautiful electronic drumset (Roland TD-9KX) with a few extras. I included an awesome twin-pedal since my inner metal/jazz drummer was screaming for a double bass, and I'm using a bass amplifier for more p0wnsomeness. My neighbours will not be pleased.

I can play Metallica, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden all over again. :eager: Good old days!

--------

I wanna thank you for your AMAZING support about my art/music decision!!!!! I was afraid people would be disappointed, but you proved me wrong.

Feel free to make some suggestions which songs I could try! I can play any genre, style and song :) I'll try to record some of it for youuuuu, and might upload some recordings at YouTube or Facebook once I got fully used to this set.

I'm off to drawing and drumming again!!! New Elvis and Supernatural updates soon!!! Adrenaline rush!!! Woohoo!!!

Yeah, 1st 2-bass drumset was Louie Belson's : Ma dad played with him often !  ; how do you  like electronic sets, Ive not to date played one (many a time on someone else's old, raggety-ass set for recordings / gigs) as I'm not really a drummer, but one must do what one must do at times to save the show / project, lol !!      Bonk

lol sure! Whatever you want

I actually like to play Jazz and (prog) rock. And Muse. And Metallica...
Did you know the first person who actually used a double bass pedal was a jazz drummer? :) I have always found that a curious little fact!

... and I have the same set :) Amazing for an electronic one, I didn't think a TD-9KX could be that precise. It's not perfect, but... not that bad for electronic drums.
Nevermind, we share the same passions, it's cool :)

You Madam, are officially the coolest lady in the whole World in my point of view. Outstanding artwork and awesome choices for music! :D

I've played drums for a year and a half now, but I've been interested in playing and music for over a decade too. My first love in music was Iron Maiden, but with my growing interest towards the many aspects of drumming I've found myself being crazy for the legends such as Metallica, Dream Theater, Nirvana & other Grunge-bands but also for something out of my ordinary rock/heavy/metal-range. Jazz and reggae are under my research nowadays, hopefully I'm soon able to purchase a new drumkit.

Keep up these awesome forms of self-expression, I'll stay tuned for more if u don't mind. :)

Cheers!
J

Noooooooooooooooooooo, I want one. Here in Brazil is very expensive, I can't buy for less then $1500 (converting to our money is something like R$3.000)

I have an acoustic one, but whenever I play, someone complains that I'm making too much noises, so I wanted to seel it to buy an eletronic one!

Well, there's a bunch of songs you could play, I'm planning to buy a drum machine that also integral to rest from work
with drawings and everything, but do not know if this is a good choice if you can give me an opinion. Well, Dream Theater, Metallica, Iron Maiden, certainly has enough cool stuff to play, but if you could make your playing a clip for "I Disappear " Metallica would be very cool! Hugs and success Nelicion!

A female drummer !! That's so awesome ! :D
Funny, 'cause I started drums a few months ago and also bought an electronic drumset :) Not as sophisticated as yours, though...
The other funny thing is, this January is my 10th birthday as a musician, too :) I play electric guitar !
I hope you'll have a lot of fun with your new drumset ^^

I was a progressive, metal fusion drumer for 25 years, so I must fav this. I had blond maple double bass Ludwig Octoplus and 8 Tama Ocobans, that and my 14 zildjians, Paiste Gong, wood blocks, chimes, and anything else I could fit on my riser. It took 13 mics to mic my kit and 8 hours for my guy to set it up, but after all the work was done.....I must admit, I did some rockin'....very cool it was and I made No $$ but wouldnt trade the life style forthe world......I retired in 1980, but now my eldest son has taken my place, all formally trained and has my handspeed and my footspeed..he does indeed, Rock!!

That is SO awesome. And thank you so much for stopping by my gallery :) it's an honour to meet someone as talented as you are. The drumset you used to play sounds like a beauty. I bet it must have been a fantastic experience to play on a giant instrument like that, and know how to play it too.

Great to hear music is running in the family :) does your son play in any specific band?

It was great fun! 20 drums, plus what I already told you. It was, indeed, a montrous trip! My son plays for a few bands, he's is in demand......Even I still get offers, but my recent heart attack and strokes are keeping me quiet. At least for :-)Thanks for returning my comment brother drummer....jss

Oh! brother drummer? I'm a girl, so that would make me sister drummer I guess.. :)

That must be hard, not being able to play because of your health issues. It's amazing you got to channel your creativity in a different way  with those fantastic sculptures you make.
Health is the reason why I had to quit playing for about 8 years as well, until recently anyway. I still can't play as much as I used to because my health is weak, but it feels good to hold a pair of drumsticks again and play a couple of tunes a few times a week. I truly missed that.

... electric? That seems like the actual act of drumming would hurt the sensors if you hit them too hard.... Tho MUCH more space-efficient.
:D

It's exciting!!! I'm trying to think of a song that is really drumming-awesome-filled to suggest but I can't right now... haha. I hope Dave's treating you well!!!!
